Fota Shamrock and border

Circa 1870-1890.  From Fota House, County Cork, this most identifiably Irish pattern may have been printed in Dublin or Cork. It was also one of the last to have been printed by hand in Ireland, as the craft of block printing had completely died out here by the end of the century. The original paper survives in Fota, lovingly patched and repaired by successive owners. The border is optional.
