Dorothea
Circa 1820-1836. The original of this pattern, found in Fota House, County Cork, was more elaborate, and included an arrangement of blue roses superimposed on the striped background pattern, all accompanied by a sumptuous flock border. On their own, and without the roses, the delicately figured stripes provide a pattern that is structured, yet relaxed and flowing.
